No, this is not Plutonic Fluf, aka Jason Foster posting from the other side, although that would be very cool!  This is his parents Michelle and Chuck Foster writing to you all on what is, unbelievably, the five-year anniversary of his passing (August 6, 2009).  During the last 4 years of his 17 and three quarter year life, Jason was passionate about his photography and this DeviantART website was his main way of displaying his art.   He absolutely loved being part of this worldwide community and your support and encouragement helped him developed into an amazing young photographer; we still enjoy reading your comments and his humble thanks for each new photograph he posted.  And we can tell you that he enjoyed and was totally motivated by viewing and commenting on your photographs as well.  So we would like to give you all a big thanks for being such a large and nourishing part of his life, and ask that you take another look at his art in celebration of what he left behind for us to enjoy. And  yes, after five years we are ready for a celebration.

While all of you appreciated Jason photography, you may not have known that he was also a gifted musician with 60 compositions spread out over about five CDs. You can see him perform two of his compositions for marimba during his junior year at High School (Ipswich Ma) at www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTBma2…  (Jason is the one on the right with the long hair). You can hear most of his music at his memorial website hereplutonicfluf.com/jasons-music. And you can view a great slide show of his photography sequenced to his music (his vocals as well) here:  vimeo.com/102471890.

We are now looking into selling his photography on DeviantART with the proceeds going to the Jason Foster Youth Memorial Fund, which helps teens take the Youth Empowerment Seminar (YES!) – read more hereplutonicfluf.com/memorial-fund.

In Jason’s last Journal Entry on DeviantArt he said that his mood was Awestruck.  And so in closing, we what to encourage you all to keep on creating and sharing your art so that we can have as many Awestruck people in the world as possible. After all, our talents are called gifts for good reason! Jason taught us a lot about following our passion, and we are passing that message on.

In love and gratitude

Chuck, Michelle

:iconcuphook:

cuphook is one of my favorite artists on DA. You can just lurk around his gallery for hours... no exaggeration.

If you have the time, open each individual picture and just stare at it for a good 30 seconds at the least. Or... more than the 2 seconds most people spend while looking at a photo. Let yourself get into it and feel everything it has to offer... each one is so full of heavy atmospheres and feelings, I can't get enough.

Definitely worth a :+devwatch:

hahaha I know, I was just in San Diego. This trip is kind of random.
My grandmother is 80. Fun fact.

I end up double exposing or blurring or warping or distorting everything anyway, so you probably won't be able to tell from my pictures I was ever in San Fransisco. Unless I find some sweet building like plutonicfluf.deviantart.com/ar… but that doesn't happen too often. :giggle:

...Fine, so I do take my touristy photos sometimes. Not that they're DA-worthy or anything. They just chill in my private stash untouched as an embryo. (Unless the embryo is being aborted. That would be like me rediscovering an old photo and going hey, this is actually pretty cool! And then it's born and sleeps in the cradle of my DA gallery. Yep. My gallery is a bunch of newly born infants.) Nah but really, I just felt like making some absurd metaphor for the sake of it.

Holaaa =]

I'm going away to Canada for about 10 days! Some small town in Quebec. There will be yoga and meditation and breathing exercises and all that cool stuff, it should be amazing! =)

I go every summer, I'll be pretty out in the woods with no cell phone coverage.. there are two computers there but there are generally long lines to get on them and I don't really want to be on a lot when I'm there. Maybe a few quick check-ins. :aww:

Got the camera gear of course! I'm bringing the digital, the film chinon, and Trish (the holga). :w00t:
I probably won't be taking a whole lot of photos but it's all very necessary equipment anyhow.

There are so many times when I feel like I'm submerged in thoughts and tiny things that accumulate in my head. I start to feel hot and thirsty and overwhelmed like time collapsed a single second and it's all happening righthererightnow. But then I hear the leaves rustling around me like waves, and I feel a wind brush past me like a soft white sheet, and I breathe the scent of quintessential peace and presence and the comfort it brings. And in this open field things start to expand again.... And now is just... now.

San Diego!

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 23, 2009, 11:03 AM

So I flew into San Diego, CA last night at around... actually, I don't remember. I wasn't feeling so great and I didn't have much water on the plane so I was totally out of it. But I woke up this morning all confused (in an exciting way... you know, when you wake up and don't know where you are for 5 seconds) in the bottom bunk of a hostel room. I've never been to a hostel before, so this will probably take a few days to get used to. :P

I'm so happy to be in the city though! I'm taking tons of photos so I'll have loads to upload when I get back home some time next week. I might put up a few while I'm here, I'll see what I feel like doing.

Sorry if my responses are way delayed, I'll check my inbox thoroughly later. I hope everyone's having a great start to the summer!  :boogie:

How would you describe my style?

I don't really ever try to pertain to a certain style with my pictures, and I feel like I have so much variety it's hard to make out a distinct style. (Not that that's necessarily a good or bad thing.)

So I'm curious... if you think I have an underlying style, how would you explain it?

(This question could be related to either my concepts or my images themselves.)

I just got back my first holga roll! ...And my second one. I probably went through those a little too fast. :giggle:

I love love love every single shot, I'll probably end up uploading most of them. :D Only thing is they're all in black and white, which still looks gorgeous, but I feel like I would enjoy it a lot more if it was in color... there's so much more you can do with color, you know? The photo store in town here runs out of it quickly so I'll have to catch it right when it comes in. It is really interesting shooting in b/w though, first b/w film I've ever shot in. And with a holga it looks even better!

I hope you all enjoy these upcoming shots! I'd love to hear what you think =]]]

Screenshots Of Dreams

Journal Entry: Tue May 19, 2009, 4:56 PM
  • Listening to: Intermission - Cirrus
"Screenshots Of Dreams" is a new series I'm currently working on. It's pretty similar to Shards Of Dreams, but instead of using the digital pinhole, this time I'm using a polaroid (or at least starting off the series with a Polaroid), and more importantly there is a more specific concept...

_________________

__SCREENSHOTS OF DREAMS__
It's based around the idea of a futuristic machine that records your dreams as you sleep. With the DR (Dream Recorder --- yeah, very original product name), you can watch all of the dreams you've ever recorded which are saved on its massive hard drive (which has virtually infinite capacity for files... hundreds of terabytes will be affordable and easy to fit into a decent-sized machine by then), probably upload them to DreamTube (oh that would be a fun one!), and of course take screenshots!

_________________

So, look out for some upcoming screenshots from my DR.

(Note: I don't know how long this series will be, if I'll only shoot in Polaroid, or how frequent my additions will be. I'm really getting into this concept though so I'd love to continue it, I hope you enjoy it too!) :)
